Phyllis James

Phyllis James purchased the historic Mitchell House in 1992 and began renovations on the 1924 home that had belonged to prominent Lexington families for nearly seven decades. The innovative entrepreneur was the first in the Midlands to offer full-service wedding and event planning in one location. She invented “The Package” and created a level of service that relieves brides and mothers of the stress of working with many different vendors. Today, The Mitchell House and Gardens is proud of its long-standing reputation as a premiere location for weddings, receptions, parties, and business events – thanks to Phyllis’ personal attention to detail and quality.

Gary Pozsik

Gary Pozsik has a background in television and radio broadcasting and has worked with WIS-TV and WOLO-TV. He currently has a daily radio talk show, “Health, Wealth & Happiness.” A graduate of The Ohio State University with a master’s degree from Indiana University, Gary joined The Mitchell House staff in 2002. He has performed more than 600 weddings, and his years of theatrical training ensure that each wedding is dignified and lovely – with a perfect performance every time!

Karen Petit

Our Wedding Director, Karen Petit, has sent more than 250 brides successfully down the aisle. She’s a published author of a children’s book series and has a background in public and media relations, pageant production, and special events coordination. A USC graduate, Karen has the Southern charm and patience to deal with excited bridal groups. Like a “stage-play” director, she brings all the elements together – lights, music, action – for your wedding.

Patsy Kiser

Patsy Kiser is our Vice President of Operations. Well-known in the Lexington community, Patsy has an extensive background in catering and event planning. The Mitchell House staff affectionately call her the “Cake Goddess” because her wedding cakes and sweet confections get rave reviews. The crumbs are proof! Patsy has a true passion for designing cakes, planning our catering menus, and working with brides. She is active in all areas of the business and available to help you with all of your event needs.
